Jolly Roger's Sweet Shoppe

I had the pleasure of visiting Jolly Roger's Sweet Shoppe this morning. It's under the new management of Tom Leadabrand and Scott Jones. The "shoppe" (don't you just love that?) has retained its old time candy store charm, while it has been revitalized with some new products. The one I'm most excited about is the gelato. There were numerous flavors, like Turkish Roast, Marscapone Caramel Pistachio, and Tahitian Vanilla. I tried the tart and sweet Blood Orange. Delightful! The gelato costs $2.50 for a small cup or cone, and $4 for a large. It's the perfect treat.

Jolly Roger's contains numerous delights- like truffles, amish jellies, gourmet bagged coffee, kids' books, 28 flavors of taffy, and penny candy. Yes, penny candy! You'll feel just like a kid again. There are also cold beverages available, including italian sodas, and bottled "Switch" soda (the apricot peach sounded particularly good.)
Store hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10-5 and Friday-Saturday 10-8. I can't wait to stroll downtown on a balmy summer evening for some more gelato very soon.
