Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day is my favorite holiday.  I headed Downtown for a "wee bit o' green" and here's what I found:
A teapot at The Cafe on Broadway...
detail from one of the benches in the park...
some sort of door handle on an old building...
a sign in the window of Siloam Springs Printing...
and a green vintage shirt at Amandromeda.
May the luck of the Irish be with you!

I'll see you Downtown!

  1. I am always amazed at my luck of having such a wonderful hometown to live in. I own a preschool in town and we frequently can be seen wandering around town looking for something to spark our imagination. Today we found ourselves downtown on MAIN STREET looking for a leprechaun. We visited the Herald Leader. There we were greeted by a leprechaun and the cutest paper hats ! From there we followed our clue to Creative Corner - a small hidden trove of fun. Our next stop was Inner City Salon. We made a fun video there for one of their stylist , Jessica. The clue there led us to the Downtown Cafe. Shelby was so wonderful. She spun a tale for the kids about a little leprechaun that ran in so fast and back out that she only saw his hat. We all enjoyed yummy pots of gold cookies on the nostalgic sidewalk under umbrellas of red. The health department is normally a scary place for kids - a shot lady is there. But today it was a ton of fun. Ms Sara met us in her St Patricks Day costume complete with green hair. She too, kept the kids interest as she talked about the little green man. With a love for children, she plopped down on the floor and raised her hands high as a tree to give the kids their next clue to find the leprechaun we had hunted all morning. After leaving the health dept. we headed to the park and wouldn't you know it ! WE FOUND GOLD! That sneaky leprechaun got away again but wasn't quick enough to take all his treasure too. We finished up our day with an unexpected learning opportunity of watching " a mondo crane" work at the creek. What a wonderful wonderful small town I live in.
